TRON, the decentralized internet startup revealed new details involving its bid to integrate with BitTorrent.
TRON Integrates With BitTorrent
It is a well known fact that TRON acquired BitTorrent in July this year. However, this transpired without the acquisition amount being disclosed. The company is now planning to use its TRX tokens within the user base of the platform. This is in an attempt to create a hybrid content sharing ecosystem. Cryptocurrency will be the key to the power of this new project.
Known as “Project Atlas,” it will introduce changes in the form of a series of “backward-compatible protocol extensions,” the release said.
“To start, the product will feature faster downloads, more seeds, no mining, and backward compatibility,” Justin Sun, the CEO of TRON said. He added:
“We aim to eventually empower all content creators and their communities by eliminating the middleman and enabling content creators to distribute directly to users.”
Furthermore, as part of this new initiative, users will be able to start incentives with tokens. This will enable them to obtain premium features including faster download speeds.
Moreover, the users will continue to seed the torrent files after they have completed the downloads. In doing this they will also be able to earn tokens as a reward.
Additionally, the project also aims to enter the content creation space.
TRON will reveal more features involving Project Atlas in a presentation scheduled for September 28.
Furthermore, BitTorrent wrapped up its live streaming business in 2017. Bram Cohen led the company at the time. He later left it to assume the position of CEO at Chia. The latter is a company that focuses on improving cryptocurrency infrastructure and is based in San Francisco.
