Mainstream companies are jumping into the blockchain space on a daily basis.
Oracle for example just announced a suite for SaaS (software as a service) applications based on its Blockchain Cloud Service. All for the purpose of tracing and tracking supply chains on a ledger.
Oracle is expanding their Cloud Services
In fact, the new product called Oracle Blockchain Applications Cloud includes four new apps.
These include Intelligent Track and Trace, Lot Lineage and Provenance, Intelligent Cold Chain, and Warranty and Usage Tracking.
According to Supply Chain Management Review, Intelligent Track and Trace is designed to enable end-to-end traceability of goods. This will help reduce delays and automate record keeping. The application is meant to create a digital trail of each step in the business network, during procurement, manufacturing, and transportation.”
Blockchain Can Help Provide Better Visibility
“It may also provide better visibility for easier root-cause analysis and faster dispute resolution.”
In addition, another application, an intelligent “cold chain” service will track temperature-controlled products in a supply chain.
This one “helps monitor and track the temperature-controlled supply chain, creating recommendations to optimize processes and ensure the quality and safety of refrigerated products in pharmaceutical and food and beverage industries.”
Blockchain Can Help Increase Trust
For example, such apps may help managers track products through the supply chain on a distributed ledger to increase trust in business transactions. It may be able to provide better visibility across a multi-tier supply chain. It may even be able to help accelerate product delivery and contract execution, and improve shipper satisfaction.
“Oracle Blockchain Applications enable customers to track products through the supply chain on a distributed ledger to increase trust in business transactions, get better visibility across a multi-tier supply chain, accelerate product delivery and contract execution, and improve customer satisfaction.”
